Frequently Asked Questions

When you submit work to a freelance programmer you do not know what projects they have planned already. You may not be their highest paying customer and as a result you could be put towards the middle or end of their schedule. Freelance programmers often times charge higher rates for different types of projects and may not even fully understand the project due to competition. This can lead to delays, lack of understanding, misrepresentation of work, arguments, and even projects that are never finished. While many freelance programmers are honest and able to handle most projects, it can be difficult to predict the cost of a project to completion.

When you send us a project, you will immediately gain access to our tools allowing you to add tasks, manage tasks, and watch as your project completes. Our dashboard allows you to review everything related to your project in one place. Any person who has access to the programming dashboard (multiple user impact) must log in using two-factor authentication. Your data is safe in our system.

Our system will assess your situation initially and provide you with an overview of the cost and timeline based on our current workload in the system. This quote is provided to you as quickly as you can fill the wizard out. The wizard is designed to give you many different options and use a standard internal timeline to base the information provided to you on. All of our quotes that are instant are reviewed for accuracy and provide a range on the price and time. We will keep the project within that range of time and price as long as the information you submit accurately summarizes the project.

It's important to note that while we have our instant quote tool and we stick to the price and time quoted there may be variations based on the project. Some common reasons for this are:

  • Inaccurate or incomplete quote information related to the project
  • Adjustments made to the timeline from your dashboard
  • Programmer adjustments based on ticket or calls with additional requirements
  • Virtual Meeting adjustments, if applicable

You will see a reason for everything inside of our dashboard. If there's an extension of time or delay of any kind you will be notified directly inside of your dashboard.

You are able to place a limit on how much you would like to spend per project. This is the hard cap of how much you have available for the project. We will be unable to charge anything more than that amount without prior authorization from you. If you set this to $0.00 - we will be unable to charge any amount at all. You are in complete control of your budget.

If you are on our Professional plan you can budget anyone who is assigned to your account as well.

You sure do. We give you a free support ticket a month. You can ask anything you'd like however keep in mind that we may not be able to provide answers to math homework or many other types of questions. If you legitimately have a question and our representatives are able to determine that we will answer with a full answer to our knowledge with sources if needed. If you decide to bring us the hardest math problem known to man we're likely not going to have an answer for you.

What if I need another ticket? There are a few options available:

  1. You can subscribe to the monthly account for just one month ($14.95)
  2. You can pay the amount displayed in your dashboard for a ticket
  3. If you have an open project in the system or a question related directly to a quote you will not be charged in relation to the project or quote.

Sales tickets and questions are always free.

We're not trying to hide these costs from you but the cost can vary based on the type of account you have.

The newsletter will contain relevant information regarding specials, coupons, and any other new and exciting information that we have to present. It may also contain helpful suggestions and guides on how to accomplish tasks that are related to programming and websites.

You can update your due date as many times as you would like. This is similar to being able to adjust your timeline in the professional account however you only have a date and not a date and time. When you update your Due Date you will be quoted a new rate per hour. This rate will depend on many different things such as current workload and billing plan. If you have a budget in place you will not be able to exceed the limit on your budget.

Please note: there are several circumstances where you will not be able to adjust your due date, those are:

  • The currently expected due date is within 48 hours of resolution
  • Your budget disallows you to exceed a certain amount
  • The current workload is too high to accommodate any adjustments

You can always call in and ask us for more information regarding this (or submit a support ticket). We will be happy to answer any questions you have.

At this time we do not have a fixed schedule. In case you haven't noticed; we're new. We have steady coverage in the evening hours of the Central time zone (we are based in Tennessee). This allows us to cover any time from 3:00PM PST to 11:00PM PST. We have weekend hours as well. If you're having a hard time reaching us by phone, we're not ignoring you - leave us a message and we will get back to you either by ticket or by phone.

The virtual meetings are where you will meet with a team member to review a project or a task through the use of online collaboration software. This meeting will involve video representing the project, reviewing a project, or establishing a new project and guidelines. This virtual meeting is scheduled and available on your dashboard. You are able to reschedule the virtual meeting directly inside of your dashboard. If the virtual meetings are not used during the month they will not be carried over.

Your membership includes 15 minutes free per meeting. The time may be extended by either party at their discretion however if the customer requests an extension of time beyond the initial 15 minutes charges may apply. The standard charge for overage is $35.00 per 15 minutes over if the extension is requested during the meeting. If the extension is requested before the meeting or the meeting is planned, the rate will be displayed on your dashboard and the total cost will be automatically calculated for you. Meetings can be adjusted the day before without being charged the $35.00 per 15 minute rate.

We're not trying to hide these costs from you but the cost can vary based on the type of account you have.

You can receive up to 5 text or image swap updates per month to your site without having to worry about paying us again. You can monitor this on your dashboard. If you want additional or different types of updates per month such as structure then there will be additional charges discussed with us.

Do you write the text? No. We are unable to write your content for you unless you request an additional quote for it. We are happy to update your website with new text on any page, however.

Does the site have to be designed by you? Nope! As long as you have the ability to give us access to your site we can update the text for you. We will need FTP (File Transport Protocol) access in order to do this for you. You can keep this information up to date on your dashboard.

Up to 5 multi-user accounts are available to you at no cost. These users will be able to log in and interact with your account on your behalf. They will have full access to the dashboard as if they were logged in as you however they will not be able to modify your billing information. You can set and adjust a budget for each individual or disable the ability for an individual to charge the account on file. These users are great if you would like to have a member of your team or company work as technical support for you without compromising your account.

Additional multi-user accounts can be added and the cost will be displayed on your dashboard. We're not trying to hide these costs from you but the cost can vary based on the type of account you have.

We love to give you as much control as we can. We've created a unique way of interacting with your due date by allowing you to adjust your timeline directly inside of your dashboard. Our system will automatically keep track of where that timeline is at the moment we are working on your account to ensure that you are billed per the updated timeline amount. This is good for you! This means that if you adjust the billing to speed the timeline up in the middle of the project and then slow the project due date down towards the end you will only be billed for the expedited time.

For instance, you set the timeline to the default timeline of $27.00 per hour. The timeline of that project is one week. You look at your calendar and everything looks good but after the first day of the project you realize that you really actually need the project to be done by Thursday. You speed the project up to meet the Thursday deadline. You find out just a few hours later, while we've been working on your project to get it done in time, that your investor has plans and rescheduled for the following week. You can re-adjust your timeline back to the original timeline and drop back down to the original quoted rate of $27.00 per hour. Of course, your project will be delivered a few hours earlier than what was projected but you will not pay the expedited rate for the remaining amount of work.

We work to keep you as up-to-date as we can on your project even if you are not a member. At the end of the day you receive a summary of your project with any project in our system. By having hourly updates you will know exactly who is working on your site, when, and how much time it's taking to get each project done.

We are US based. At the time that you are reading this we are solely US based. Our hours of operation vary on a daily basis and as a result your hourly report may not be a typical 9:00AM EDT to 5:00PM EDT report. We are currently a second-shift operation placing our time of operation between 6PM to 2AM EST. This does not mean that you will not receive updates before then, however the updates made before then will typically be made on the weekend or other hours that we, as a company, work. This time will depend on the employee working on your project.

There's always a contract between two parties that exchange money. There's even more paperwork involved when it comes to exchanging confidential data such as blueprints, design plans, copyright images and text as well as other various data. We're interested in keeping that data safe for you and as a result there is no contract in payment terms. There are, of course, other legally binding documents. You will find them all inside of your dashboard and in the FAQ as well. These are important documents for you to have access to, so we will provide you with the "short" version and the "long" version in separate places.

You receive the two virtual meetings a month and the hourly updates. We believe that you do not have to pay us monthly to get great customer support - you will receive the same support even if you do not pay. We also believe, however, that you shouldn't need support on a product if it is programmed correctly the first time. This is our goal. You have the opportunity to fill out a survey after every project and every support ticket, even if it was just a quick question. We do not have phone surveys as an option at this time but you can submit your feedback through your dashboard and we will be happy to record it for you!

You have the standard quoted programming rate. We're unable to offer a monthly programming rate and as a result the price is specifically for the features that you see. Those features are:

  • Multi-User dashboard support
  • Expedited timeline
  • 2 Virtual meetings per month
  • Hourly project updates
  • Month to Month [no contract]

We will always do our best to fulfill your needs and meet your expectations, but it's important to have things in writing so that we both know what's what, who should do what and when, and what will happen if something goes wrong. In this contract you won't find any complicated legal terms or long passages of unreadable text. We have no desire to trick you into signing something that you might later regret. What we do want is what's best for both parties, now and in the future.

You are hiring us (Trusted Programmer) located in Tullahoma, TN to program or implement a website for the estimated total price that is displayed in your dashboard. Of course it's a little more complicated, but we will get to that.

You have the authority to enter into this contract on behalf of yourself, your company or your organization. You will give us everything we need to complete the project as and when and in the format we need it. You will review our work, provide feedback and approval in a timely manner too. Deadlines work both ways, so you will also be bound by dates we set together. You also agree to stick to the payment schedule outlined on your dashboard.

We have the experience and ability to do everything we have agreed with you and we will do it all in a professional and timely manner. We will strive to meet every deadline that is set and on top of that we will maintain the confidentiality and security of everything you give us.

We program websites into professional looking templates that adapt to the capabilities of many devices and screen sizes. We program using predominantly PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS and our expertise is incorporating function into a good design. We may not provide every template as a static visual because it may not demonstrate our work. We may use static visuals to ensure the look and the feel of the website are in line with what you expect.

If it is part of the agreement, we will seek out and purchase on your behalf a template or design or hire a design artist or team to create your work in a visually appealing manner. All templates purchased will have a license that can only be transferred to you from us. We will provide the license, certification, or contract that the design of the site is legally yours to modify in any manner that you (or we) wish, if applicable.

You will have the ability to review our work and provide feedback daily through your dashboard. If, at any stage, you are not happy with the direction our work is taking, you will pay us in full for everything we have produced until that point and cancel this contract.

We will provide the industry standard for place-holder text. We are not responsible for writing or inputting any text copy. If you would like us to write new content or input text a quote for that will have to either be included or created in the dashboard.

You should supply graphic files in an editable, vector digital format. You should supply photographs in a high resolution digital format. If you choose to buy stock photographs, we can suggest stock libraries. If you would like us to search for photographs for you, you can request a quote in your dashboard.

We deliver web page types developed from HTML4/5 markup, CSS2.1 + 3 stylesheets for styling and unobtrusive JavaScript for feature detection and behaviors.

Browser testing no longer means attempting to make a website look the same in browsers of different capabilities or on devices with different size screens. It does mean ensuring that a persons experience of a design should be appropriate to the capabilities of a browser or device.

We test our work in current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Microsoft (Internet Explorer) and Mozilla Firefox. We will also test to ensure Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 for Windows users get an appropriate, possibly different, experience. We will not test in other older browsers unless you specify otherwise. If you need an enhanced design for an older browser, you can request a quote for that in your dashboard.

Testing popular small-screen devices is essential in ensuring that a persons experience of a design is appropriate to the capabilities of the device they are using. We test our work in simulated browsers for the following:

iOS

  • Safari
  • Google Chrome

Android

  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox

We currently do not test Blackberry, Opera Mini/Mobile, Windows Phone or other mobile browsers. If you need us to test using these, you can request a quote in the dashboard.

Technical support is available as a quoted item inside of the dashboard. We have hosting packages available based on need. Hosting related questions will be answered if you have hosting with us. We will initialize your site setup, if contained within the quote, plus any statistics software such as Google Analytics as owned by you. Updates and management of the server will be provided by Trusted Programmer. You can purchase additional support, if needed, through your dashboard here at Trusted Programmer.

We know from experience that fixed-price contracts are rarely beneficial to you, as they often limit you to your earliest ideas. We do not want to limit your ability to change your mind. The price at the beginning of the quote is based on the length of time we estimate we will need to accomplish everything you have told us you want to achieve, but we are happy to be flexible. If you want to change your mind or add anything new, simply update the task list inside of the dashboard and an updated quote will be provided to you.

We cannot guarantee that our work will be error-free and so we cannot be liable to you or any third-party for damages, including lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages, even if you have advised us of them. Finally, if any provision of this contract shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this contract and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

First, you guarantee that all elements of text, images or other artwork you provide are either owned by your good selves, or that you have permission to use them.

Then, when your final payment has cleared, copyright will be automatically assigned as follows:

You will own the programming elements that we create for this project. We will give you source files and finished files and you should keep them somewhere safe as we are not required to keep a copy. You own all elements of text, images and data you provided, unless someone else owns them.

We will own the unique combination of these elements that constitutes a complete design and we will license its use to you, exclusively and in perpetuity for this project only, unless we agree otherwise.

We love to show off our work and share what we have learned with other people, so we reserve the right, with your permission, to display and link to your project as part of our portfolio and to write about it on websites, in magazine articles and in books.

We are sure you understand how important it is as a small business that you pay the invoices that we send you promptly. As we are also sure you will want to stay friends, you agree to stick tight to the payment schedule displayed on your dashboard.

Just like a parking ticket, you cannot transfer this contract to anyone else without our permission. This contract stays in place and need not be renewed. If for some reason one part of this contract becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts of it remain in place.

Although the language is simple, the intentions are serious and this contract is a legal document under exclusive jurisdiction of the State of Tennessee, United States of America.

By agreeing to do work with us, paying us the initial portion of the quote displayed in your dashboard, using our systems to stay up to date with a project, and checking and agreeing to the terms of this contract you are submitting a digital signature permissible in the court of law. You agree that this agreement is binding and irrevocable. You also agree that upon the initial agreement you will sign and return a digital or paper copy of this if requested.
